Courey Schaetzle joined the Bucknell athletic training staff as an assistant athletic trainer prior to the 2016-17 academic year. She earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training from Mercyhurst University in 2014 and completed her master's degree in exercise science in 2016.
Schaetzle's athletic training career got started when she was a graduate assistant at Mercyhurst during the 2014-15 academy year. She was the primary athletic trainer for the Lakers' field hockey and softball teams.
During the summer of 2015, Schaetzle was a certified athletic training intern at Duke University, working closely with the women's basketball program.
Schaetzle was back at Mercyhurst in 2015-16 as an assistant athletic trainer. She worked with the women's ice hockey, baseball and softball teams.
Schaetzle, the daughter of Marty Schaetzle, a former assistant football coach at Bucknell, also gained a lot of medical experience through work at UPMC and the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Erie, Pennsylvania.
