Bucknell University Athletics
Update from Head Softball Coach Angie Stackhouse -- December 2025

Happy Holidays from Bucknell Softball!Â
My first semester has flown by, and I am very happy with the work that the team has put in so far! This has been a highly focused group, looking to continue shaping our team culture, integrating the freshman class, and enhancing our skill level. The seniors have been busy working on their future plans of employment and graduate studies as they try to be proactive before softball season starts. I am very proud of how this team handles its business. With finals going on, the NCAA does not allow you to hold team workouts, but the team is staying busy with getting self-work done and making sure they stay sharp as they head into break.
Â
After wrapping up fall ball, we went into our off-season skill work and strength and conditioning, which we just finished up! We spent time addressing both team and individual needs, mental training, and building a strong foundation in the weight room. We worked on fine-tuning our hitting approach and knowledge of the strike zone. Specifically learning our best two-strike hitting approach and how to get back on time after seeing an off-speed pitch. Pitchers focused on throwing efficiently to live batters and lowering their pitch counts to extend their innings pitched per game.Â
We have an exciting fundraising campaign happening for an indoor training facility specifically designed for softball and baseball. The facility will include multiple batting cages, a pitching lab, team space, and an outdoor patio for alumni, friends, and family to enjoy during home games. The most exciting part came with the announcement of the campaign to name the facility after legendary Hall of Fame softball coach Terrie Grieb! A huge thank you to our alumni support system, who stepped up to participate in the naming campaign to help make sure that Coach Grieb will forever be honored on campus! If you would like to help make that a reality by giving in Coach Grieb’s name, you can contact Tom Harvey at teharvey@bucknell.edu or Abby Gulden-Luthi ’05 at afgulden@bucknell.edu. It has been exciting to see the loyalty to Bucknell and the softball program.
Â
I am looking forward to elevating the softball alumni experience and reconnecting with this very important group of people! Thank you to the many alumni and family members who jumped on the Zoom calls -- it is an exciting time to be a part of Bucknell Softball as we continue to try to grow the program.
Softball season will be upon us before we know it, and we have a great schedule put together for the 2026 campaign. We will officially announce the schedule soon, but we are excited to highlight our plans for opening weekend at a tournament at East Texas A&M and our spring break trip beginning at a tournament at Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C. We will base our travels in the greater Charlotte, N.C., area and play eight games in the Carolinas for our spring training trip.
I hope you will all mark your calendars for this year’s One Herd One Day 24-hour giving challenge, which is set to take place March 25-26. It is an important day for the continued growth of our program, and I hope you will all support Bison Softball during the event.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season. My favorite part of the new year is knowing softball season is right around the corner! Thank you for all of your support for the program, and I hope to see you soon in 2026!
