Update from Head Men's Basketball Coach John Griffin III -- December 2025
Dear Bison Nation
As we head into the holiday season, I want to extend my best wishes to you and your families. I’m grateful for the continued connection and support that makes Bucknell Basketball so special.
We closed the pre-exam non conference portion of our schedule with a great win — a credit to a group that has stayed committed to a defensive-minded approach and to doing the work every day. We’ll head to Des Moines, Iowa this week for our final non-conference matchup against the Iowa Hawkeyes. This game was intentionally scheduled to honor Ruot Bijiek — a four-year senior and leader in our program — who is from Iowa. With his family based in Des Moines, it will be a special opportunity to bring Ruot home and allow him to play in front of his family and friends.
While we’ve been hit with significant injuries, our players have handled adversity with impressive maturity, toughness, and togetherness. Their effort and competitiveness has never wavered, regardless of the results.
Our non-conference schedule has provided invaluable experience, and it’s been especially meaningful to reconnect with so many alumni along the way. From our trips to St. John’s and Pittsburgh, to Fort Myers, Fla., the energy and support from our alumni and fans has been constant, and I truly appreciate it.
There are big months ahead with Patriot League play in front of us, and we’re excited about the opportunity. I look forward to seeing many of you back in Sojka soon. Thank you again for being part of the Bucknell Basketball family!
