Hello Alumni, Family, and Friends,
First, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who helped support the women’s golf program during the One Herd One Day giving challenge! It was a record-breaking day for us. Your generosity means the world to us, and we appreciate having a wonderful group of people in our golf community.
Speaking of record-breaking, I am proud to share that the women golfers broke the 54-hole scoring record by 20 shots at the Patriot League Championship. In addition to the record-setting team performance, freshman Paige Richter broke the individual 54-hole scoring record for a par-72 course with a total score of 220. She also received All-Patriot League honors with a T-7th finish. All the hard work the ladies put in this season has paid off this spring, and they truly peaked at the right time. I can’t even express how proud I am of their efforts. Even though I only had the opportunity to coach the seniors for one year, I will really miss them. Each had their special way of leading the team with positivity, encouragement, laughter, and, most importantly, friendship. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
Finally, I want to introduce you to our 2023 incoming freshman class! These 2023 recruits are very talented, and they will immediately impact our program and build on the accomplishments of the 2022-23 team.
Sofia Nogalo
Lives in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Sofia started playing golf when she was six and immediately fell in love with the sport. She has always enjoyed how challenging the sport is and how she must overcome many obstacles. Her best round in a tournament was in the 2022 high school sectional tournament shooting three under 69. Sofia plans on majoring in Biomedical or Civil Engineering.
Lila Smith
Lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Lila started playing golf seriously during her first year of high school and has loved it ever since. Her best tournament round is a 70. Lila plans to major in Markets, Innovation, and Design in the Freeman College of Management.
Nicole Yun
Lives in Limerick, Pennsylvania.
Nicole was about eight years old when she started playing golf. Her dad could not convince her brothers to play, so he took her instead. He was the one that grew her admiration for the game. Her best round was when she shot one under at DuPont Country Club for the AJGA Qualifier and placed 1st. It was her first appearance in an AJGA tournament, so she was nervous, but it turned out better than expected. Nicole plans on majoring in Biology to follow a career path in the medical field.
Katherine Vice
Originally from Toronto, Canada, but now lives in Long Island, New York.
Katherine is studying at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Katherine has been playing for over ten years and loves the game. Her best round she posted in a tournament was a 72. Katherine is currently undecided but would like to explore business.
With the addition of these golfers to our roster, I have high expectations for our golf program. I look forward to the fall and the beginning of the 2023 golf season. Because of your generous giving, these young women will have an opportunity to have a top-level college golf experience.
We are all very grateful for your continuing support.
Respectfully,
Laura Tyler-Cook
