Bucknell University Athletics
Update from Head Field Hockey Coach Kelsey Kolojejchick -- May 2023
Hi Bison Family!
Â
I cannot believe that our spring season is officially over! This was a very beneficial off-season. The team was challenged on the field with early morning practices, conditioning, and plenty of scrimmages/play days. At the same time, they also worked hard off the field, working with Jen Kentera (our senior associate AD for leadership development) and Nick Fuller (sports psychologist) to help improve our sports performance and team connections. While we had our ups and downs throughout the offseason, we have made positive strides as a team going into the fall season. It is all about our mindset, and when we choose to stay positive, stay hungry, and work hard for each other, this team is dangerous.
Â
We ended the spring season with two play days at home against Lock Haven, East Stroudsburg, and Shippensburg, where the team worked through a new structure and found success finding the back of the net, winning each of our games at our home competition. We also had a successful competitive playday at Villanova, playing Nova, Drexel, and La Salle. The team delivered on its goals of playing connected, playing with high intensity, and playing with confidence. When the ladies believe in themselves and one another, they are a tough team to beat. The goal is to keep this a consistent standard going into the fall season!
Â
I also wanted to share our condolences for the passing of Art Lloyd. Art and his family have left a lasting impact on our Bucknell Field Hockey program and have done so much for all our student-athletes who have worn the Orange and Blue. His late wife, Dorothy, is a member of the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame, and Art has shared her passion for the sport, and we are just so appreciative of their support for all these years. We want to thank Art and his family for everything they have done for Bucknell Field Hockey, and our thoughts and prayers are with Ginny (Art’s daughter) and her family during this difficult time. Please keep the Lloyd family in your prayers.
Â
Thank you again to everyone who continuously supports our program; our countdown to the fall season begins now!
Â
‘Ray Bucknell!
