Bucknell University Athletics
Update from Head Field Hockey Coach Kelsey Kolojejchick -- March 2023
Hi Bison Family,
Â
I hope everyone is enjoying the mild weather, and I hope that leads to an early spring! I have a few updates I wanted to share with you all. First, congratulations to our team on earning a 3.65 GPA during the fall semester!! It is a tremendous honor, and I am so proud of the team's academic accomplishments. Every single one of our players earned a 3.0 GPA or higher during our competition season! It is not an easy task, as being a Division I athlete is a full-time job, so to see our student-athletes work hard on the field without making academic sacrifices is inspiring.
Â
We also had 17 student-athletes get recognized on the NFHCA All-Academic Team, which was the sixth-best in the nation among all Division I teams! Student-athletes must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher to receive such an honor. Seniors Mackenzie Kile, Kayla Kisthardt, Noor Kaur, and Clara McCormick have achieved this award all four years at Bucknell.Â
Â
I also have to shout out three student-athletes, Clara McCormick, Olivia Bush, and Alex Shizas, who were named NFHCA Scholars of Distinction! This accolade recognizes student-athletes who have a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher. Clara has achieved this award in each of her four years at Bucknell, which is a phenomenal accomplishment! The women in our program continue to uphold a high standard in the classroom, and I am incredibly proud of them.
Â
Our One Herd One Day 24-hour giving challenge is quickly approaching on March 28th and March 29th, and we would greatly appreciate your support as we hope to achieve new records for donors and the dollars raised. We had 123 donors last year, but the program’s all-time high is 164. I hope we come together to spread the word and top that mark. In 2021 we set a record by raising $47,876, but we hope to top the $50,000 plateau this year. If you have already donated this year, thank you, and maybe you’ll consider a second gift during OHOD. Your generosity does not go unnoticed, and we appreciate having such a wonderful and supportive family.
Â
And finally, if you are an alum of the program, please mark your calendar for April 29th and make plans to return to campus for our Alumni Day. We would love to see you all back in town for fun, food, drinks, and field hockey! Our staff and team are looking forward to hosting many of you at Graham Field, so please join us if you are able!!
Â
Thank you again, and I look forward to updating you again in the April edition of our newsletter!
Â
Ray!
