Update from Head Field Hockey Coach Kelsey Kolojejchick
Hi Bison Family!
Â
Happy New Year!! We are excited to kick this year off and have all our student-athletes back on campus. I wanted to update you all on a few things at the start of our spring season.
Â
Our team participated in the all-sports clinic our department offered to children in the area in conjunction with National Girls & Women in Sports Day on Jan. 29. It was a great event and an excellent way for our student-athletes to give something back to the community.
Â
Our spring season kicks off this week, so we are looking forward to playing indoor hockey to get back into the swing of things and focus on amping up our speed and skills to help us prepare for our outdoor segment. Indoor is such a fun way to, one, escape the cold weather, and two, focus on areas of our game that can sharpen up our passing and individual skills that will help us grow our game as individuals and as a team. Learning to play in a smaller space at a fast pace will help our team with decision-making and problem-solving, and they will build confidence once they are outside and have a much bigger field to compete on.
Â
I have never been a part of a team obsessed with the weight room as much as this team! Coach Reece has done a great job with our team, and we look forward to seeing our women get faster, stronger, and healthy!
Â
Mark your calendars! We have some upcoming clinics for high school-age athletes if you know anyone who would be interested in attending. They include a 7v7 playday on Apr. 2 and a Bison Skills Clinic on May 7.Â
Â
We also have a very significant 24-hour period approaching for our program. The annual One Herd One Day 24-Hour Giving Challenge will be on March 28-29 from 10:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. I look forward to us all coming together in March to turn in a huge day for the field hockey program. We have been very successful in years past with the challenge and hope to regain that success this spring!!
Â
We hope everyone is doing well, and as always, we thank you so much for your support!
Â
‘ray Bucknell!
