Update from Head Women's Golf Coach Laura Tyler-Cook

Dear Alumnae, Family, and Friends,
Happy New Year!
After a long, much-needed break, the ladies are back on campus and excited to prepare for the spring golf season. Our first tournament is on February 5th, so we are off and running with indoor practice. Our focus for practice sessions this winter will be on short game and putting. If the ladies can improve on their shots from 100 yards and in, they will be able to shave some strokes off their scores and have a good first tournament. We are thankful to have the benefit of the indoor practice areas provided by the Bachman Center, where we can work on swings and short game until the weather allows us to be outside.
In addition to indoor practice, the ladies will participate in a 12-week VISION54 Elite Golfer Class. VISION 54's core intention is to help golfers reach their full potential by becoming their "own" best coach and playing better ON the course. They do this by focusing on their Human Skills through course training and coaching them on managing themselves while playing. We will follow up this class with a three-hour clinic in Arizona during spring break. I am excited to have the opportunity to participate in this class alongside them, and as a team we can learn how to be our best. A special thank you to Kathy Vizas ’79 for providing the contact for this incredible opportunity.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Bucknell Women's golf program. The program was started in the Fall of 1998 by Bucknell Athletics Hall-of-Famer Brad Tufts. Brad is planning on having a 25th-anniversary celebration in late spring. I am excited to be part of this celebration and look forward to meeting alums that played for Brad, Kevin, and Lisa. As soon as we know the date of this celebration, we will pass it on to you so you can mark your calendars and plan to join us.
We have a significant 24-hour period approaching for our program. The annual One Herd One Day 24-Hour Giving Challenge will be on March 28-29 from 10:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. I hope we can all come together in March to turn in a huge day for the women’s golf program.
Thank you for your support and encouragement. The ladies are grateful as well. They know that if it weren't for all of you, they wouldn't have the opportunities or experiences provided for them as an athlete competing and representing the Orange and the Blue!
