LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior wing back Jack Lucas collected his second weekly award of the season as he was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the Bucknell men's soccer team announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Bucknell's top point-scorer from last season has been on a tear to start the season, grabbing at least a point in all five matches thus far. He scored two more goals this past week against No. 22 George Mason and Old Dominion.
Lucas scored an equalizing goal against George Mason as the Bison erased a two-goal deficit in just 13 minutes. Lucas received a short pass on a set piece just outside the box. He fired a shot on goal while running away from goal and it floated over traffic in the box to find the back of the net. The Patriots would go on to win the match on a last-minute goal.
The wing backer then scored what became the match-winning goal in Bucknell's 4-2 win at home against Old Dominion. Lucas stepped up to the spot after senior Jimmy Pombor earned the penalty. His initial attempt was saved in the bottom corner, but he pounced on the rebound to extend Bucknell's lead to 3-1.
Lucas currently leads the Patriot League with nine points, four goals, two match-winning goals and eight shots on target. He also grabbed an assist at Maryland earlier this season.
Bucknell is 3-1-1 heading into Patriot League action as the Bison head to Lafayette on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
