Freddie Lapworth Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior goalkeeper Freddie Lapworth is one of 29 Division I soccer players named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, the United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday. The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by the Missouri Athletic Club, is an annual award that honors the National Player of the Year.
A native of Banbury, England, Lapworth has already been named to the United Soccer Coaches Goalkeepers to Watch List for the 2025 season and is this year's Patriot League Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
Lapworth's was one of the nation's best goalkeepers last season, where he was voted as the Patriot goalkeeper of the Year, a First Team All-Patriot League selection, and a United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team selection. Â
The senior played every minute in goal last season for the Bison. His eight clean sheets ranked ninth among D1 programs and was seventh-most in program history for a single season. Lapworth conceded 21 goals in 20 games, ranking 48th among D1 programs for a 1.04 GAA. His .722 save percentage and his 1.06 GAA in the regular season both ranked second in the Patriot League.
Fifteen semifinalists of the award will be announced on December 9, where head coaches will then vote on three players to be named finalists. The 2025 MAC Hermann Trophy recipient will be announced on January 9, 2026 in a ceremony held at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
The Bison begin its 2025 campaign at Hofstra on Thursday, August 21 at 7 p.m.
