RHINE-RUHR, GERMANY- Evelyn Bliss continues her tradition of summer competition by competing in the 2025 FISU World University Games held in the postcard-like Rhine Valley of Germany. The javelin thrower will challenge some of the world's best as a Star Spangled Banner representative of the University USA Team. Bliss will throw at 3:35 a.m. Eastern Time/9:35 a.m. German Time tomorrow for the chance to advance to Saturday's final round at 8:20 a.m. Eastern Time/2:20 p.m. German Time
"I am excited to be here," said Bliss. "I love being with Team USA and I'm looking forward to some great competition! It is always a blessing to be a part of something bigger than myself."

"The World University Games is an exciting opportunity for Evelyn," said Bucknell throws coach Ryan Protzman. "She was selected when Head Coach Andrew Dubs called me around the time of the Patriot League Championships. Evie takes so much pride in representing her country and this is a well-earned experience that she is already enjoying to the fullest. Training is going great, she is adapting to being in a different country, and she is meshing well with her teammates. I'm excited for her to gain valuable international experience, and be challenged in a highly competitive field."
She will be the fourth thrower in the first flight and based on career-best marks, Bliss ranks ninth. Europe has a thriving javelin culture and the opportunity will prove fruitful for the Bison javelineer in future competitions.Â
Bliss has been in Germany since last week and has been experiencing the Teutonic country in-between her training sessions. One memorable incident occurred when a German police car accidentally ran over her cell phone. Fortunately, the problem was quickly resolved and her communication with the outside world was restored.Â
There will be little time to rest for the Bison star. Right now after she returns from Germany, Bliss flies to Eugene, Oregon for the USATF National Championships held on July 31-August 3.Â
