Justley Sharp Wins Bison of the Week
2/17/2025 2:17:00 PM | Women's Track and Field
LEWISBURG, Pa.- Justley Sharp reset her school record in the indoor shot put at the Darius Dixon Memorial on Saturday. The Bucknell Athletics Department recognized the accomplishment by granting Sharp her second ever Bison of the Week honor. Sharp previously won the award April 22, 2024.Â
Sharp has repeatedly reset her school record and this time threw 15.81 meters (51-10.25 feet) shattering her old mark by over a foot. The mark easily won the event by two feet. Sharp threw against some top competition at the Darius Dixon Memorial as she and the Bison prepare for the Patriot League Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 1 & 2.Â
"Coach and I had been working on some technical corrections for a few weeks now," said Sharp. "Today some of those corrections finally came together and that was reflected in my performance. As the indoor season comes to a close, I am hoping to keep building on this progress through the league championships. We had a small squad at Liberty but I definitely felt plenty of support and energy from my teammates."
"Justley had a big breakthrough today," said throws coach Ryan Protzman. "She started the competition with one of her worst marks in a Bucknell uniform and I think it was the best thing that could have happened. She executed her last five throws and transferred the training to the meet really well this week. Great series, new personal record, and indoor school record. She's in a great spot heading into the championship season."
Sharp owns three school records;Â the indoor and outdoor shot put and the discus - the most of any active Bison female.Â
The regular indoor season concludes this Friday with the Bucknell Tuneup.Â
