About the Bison
- Bucknell hosts its annual fall invitational this week, a 54-hole tournament spread over three days at the Bucknell Golf Club. It's another large field this year, with 18 teams in town, including the Bison. Patriot League rivals Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette are part of the field.
- The Bison are coming off a third-place finish at the Red Flash Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis at Sunnehanna Country Club earlier this week. Bucknell put up team scores of 292-294 on the par-70 track.
- Freshmen Jack Hartman and Patrick Pritsios led the way with the best finishes of their young careers. Harman tied for runner-up honors with a 3-over 141 total (72-71), while Pritsios was just behind in a tie for fourth at 142 (72-72).
- Sophomore Hayden Quinn was T-11th at Sunnehanna with rounds of 71-75, and he continues to pace the squad with a 73.5 scoring average. Hartman (74.4), Pritsios (.74.9), and Michael Rudnick (75.9) round out the team's top five.
- Hartman and Pritsios were also classmates and teammates at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. Hartman is a second-generation Bison golfer, as his father Josh was a two-time All-Patriot League honoree and a two-time Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year while playing for coach Tommy Thompson from 1994-98.
- Bucknell has been very successful in its home tournament in recent years, winning six of the last 20Â titles, while finishing as the runner-up on six other occasions in that span.
- The Bison have won their home tournament seven times, including four straight titles from 2007-10, Bucknell also won this event in 1981, 2003, and 2004.
- Bison winning individual titles include Rob Wagner in 1981, Kyle Moran in 2004, Stuart Lindgren in 2007, Jeff Pike in 2008, Andrew Cohen in 2009, and Dan Bernard in 2012.
- Bucknell finished third out of 19 teams last season, shooting 287-285-281 for a 54-hole total of 853. Colgate (839) and LIU (844) placed 1-2.
- Last year's medalist was Lewis Wright of LIU, who posted a 7-under 203 (66-70-67) for a wire-to-wire, three-shot victory.Â
- This is Bucknell's last event of the fall season. The Bison will be back in action on Feb. 16-18 at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley GC in Goodyear, Ariz.
