Bucknell Men's Water Polo Prepares for Princeton Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell University men's water polo team travels to Princeton, N.J., this weekend to face off against No. 15 Cal Baptist, No.18 Harvard, and Iona at the Princeton Invitational.

Saturday, Sept. 9
Bucknell (1-3, 0-0 MAWPC) vs. Cal Baptist (1-3, 0-0 WCC) - 12:30 p.m.

Bucknell (1-3, 0-0 MAWPC) vs.Harvard (3-1, 0-0 NWPC) - 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 10
Bucknell (1-3, 0-0 MAWPC) vs. Iona (1-3, 0-0 MAAC) - 3:30 p.m.

Bucknell is ready for a rematch against two of the three teams it faced off against last weekend. The Bison previously competed against Iona and Harvard at the Bruno Classic.
Bucknell defeated Iona 12-9 at the Bruno Classic, earning the first win of the season.
The Bison defeated the Gaels for the 12th straight time Saturday, scoring six goals in the second to push their lead to victory in the match-up. They also earned their largest lead in the third quarter of five goals. The score showed 12-7 Bucknell.
Shay Gillearn led the team with four goals, followed by Walker Butler and Aleksa Stefanovic, who each notched three against Iona.
No. 18 Harvard defeated Bucknell 14-7 on Saturday.
Bucknell successfully made a shot from Andu Vlasceanu less than three minutes into the game.
The Crimson were unsuccessful in getting a shot off for the first five minutes as the Bison held control at the start of play.
The Bison saw Stefanovic and Matt Ryckman scoring multi-goals in the first part of the play. The Crimson answered back with a 6-0 run in the second half.
Bucknell almost had a comeback in the third quarter, closing the gap between the two teams to just 7-5 Crimson. Unfortunately, the Bison could not close the gap anymore.
Bucknell is currently ranked #4 in the 2023 Men's Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference.
Bucknell matches up against Cal Baptist for the first time this season.
The Bison have not faced off against the Lancers since 2021, when Cal Baptist defeated Bucknell 12-10.
