LEWISBURG, Pa.- Newly christened sophomore Brylee Tereska and incoming freshman Evelyn Bliss will throw the javelin at the USATF U20 Championships on July 9th in Eugene, Oregon. The two Bucknell athletes are competing for a qualifying spot on the U.S. junior team.  A top-two placement will earn a ticket to the Pan American U20 Championships.
The full schedule is available here.
"It is always great to see our student-athletes competing during the postseason at the USATF level," said head coach Kevin Donner. "The national U20 meet gives Brylee a great opportunity to compete at a national level against women her age with an opportunity to compete at the U20 Pan American Games next month. The extra time spent practicing and competing at these types of meets is a great set-up for her future. It is also great to see one of our incoming first years in the meet with Evelyn Bliss, who is also competing in the javelin."
"When you're competing into July, that's usually a good sign," said throwing coach Ryan Protzman. "Brylee made outstanding progress as a freshman. This has put her in a position to check off some big-time meets this year, and it will give her experience for the next few years.Â
Evelyn had a huge month in May, emerging as one of the best high school javelin throwers in the country. She took June off from competition to focus on U20s. It's going to be an exciting weekend for these ladies, the future of our women's javelin squad, and our track and field program!"
Tereska had a memorable rookie season for Bucknell during the 2022-23 season. She won two meets, finished second at the ECAC Outdoor Championships, and clinched third at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. Tereska qualified for the NCAA East Preliminaries. She ranks seventh (151-0) all-time in the javelin throw for Bucknell.Â
Bliss comes to the Bison from Union AC Valley High School. She owns a top javelin throw of 170-2.
