LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison men's track & field team travels to New York City for this weekend's Big Apple Invitational at the prestigious Ocean Breeze facility.Â
What: Big Apple Invitational
Where: Ocean Breeze Track Complex-Staten Island, N.Y.
When: Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023
"We are very excited to compete in the Big Apple Invitational," said head coach Kevin Donner. "It's a meet and facility that Bucknell Track and Field has never been at. We have a lot of our athletes from around that area who competed there in high school, and I have heard nothing but good things about the facility at Ocean Breeze. We are two weeks out from the Patriot League Championships, and we tend to take our home meet next week very cautious, so this week, there is a lot at stake for many of our athletes."
Last Meet Out (Scarlet & White Invite)
Bucknell will host the Bison Tune-Up on Feb. 17.Â

Last Meet Out (Scarlet & White Invite)
- Samuel Whittaker placed second in the 3000 Meter Run, but his time of 8:02.55 is now the best mark in Bucknell history. It is the fastest time by 2.49 seconds. The previous record of 8:05.04 was set by Brian Harshman back in 1985. The time also qualifies Whittaker for the IC4A.Â
- Anthony Zamarra won gold in the Shot Put with a toss of 51' 3½.Â
- Beyond Zamarra, Bucknell had three other throwers finish in the top seven. Wade Shomper finished second (51' 2¾"), Braden Stryker grabbed fifth (48' 3¼"), and Jaxon White nailed seventh (46' 8¾").Â
- Robert Feeney finished first in the Weight Throw. His throw of 59' 10" not only won the event but earned Feeney IC4A qualification, and now ranks seventh in Bucknell history. In the event, John Calisi was right behind Feeney by placing second (57' 5").Â
- The Bison earned four more IC4A qualifications at the meet. Zachary Jelinek finished 14th in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 1:52.15. It was only half a second away from entering the Bucknell top 10. Alex Simpson was 21st in the same event. His time of 1:53.28 was good enough for the IC4A ranking. Jayson Harmer earned IC4A qualification with a time of 4:14.61 in the Mile Run. Ethan Wolford-Tuffy finished 22nd in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 48.98, which earned him his IC4A bid.Â
Bucknell will host the Bison Tune-Up on Feb. 17.Â
