Sample Wins Bronze Medal at the 2023 Parapan American Games

SANTIAGO, CHILE- Bucknell men's track & field runner Rayven Sample competed at the 2023 Parapan American Games last weekend and earned bronze in the T47 400-meter dash. He also raced in the T47 100-meter dash.

Results

Sample's third-place time (50.68) slotted him only 0.74 seconds away from first. He finished 0.1 seconds behind the second-place finisher. Sample comfortably won third place by racing over two seconds faster than the fourth-place runner. The field consisted of seven runners, six of whom completed the race.

The Bucknell athlete finished eighth in the T47 100-meter dash with a time of 11.56.

Sample is no stranger to success. He is a two-time U.S. Paralympics national champion in the 100-meter and 400-meter events. Sample also competed in the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics in the 400-meter event.

Sample and the Bucknell men's track & field team return to action this Friday at the Bison Opener to open the 2023-24 season.
