LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell's Zach Hartman made the first NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings, which are used in the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
Hartman, a two-time All-American and the defending EIWA champion, checked in at 14th in the 165-pound weight class. He has now appeared in all 12 of the NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings compiled during his time in Lewisburg to date.
This season, Hartman is currently 15-3 (7-1 dual) with six pins, three technical falls and three major decisions. He won Nov. 20's Navy Classic and placed fifth at Dec. 29-30's MatMen Open. He leads the Bison in pins and technical falls and ranks second in overall victories behind standout freshman 149-pounder Kolby DePron.
Hartman's career record is currently 82-23. His 25 career pins are good for eighth in school history, and he has gone an impressive 37-6 in dual action to date. He has been ranked as high as seventh in the NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings, earning this spot in the abbreviated 2020-21 campaign's first and third renditions.
Wrestlers in each weight class are measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots in their qualifying tournaments for the 2022 NCAA Championships, slated for March 17-19 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. The coaches' rankings are determined by a vote of 14 coaches in each weight class with two head coaches from each conference. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. For the first ranking, wrestlers must have two Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.
