SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Two Bison student-athletes claimed All-East honors as Bucknell kicked off the first day of the IC4A Championships on Friday.  Jordan Montero earned All-East honors in the javelin for the first time (8th, 193-8). Joining Montero in earning All-East honors was Nicholas Marino in the pole vault (15-2.25), who finished in a tie for eighth. "It has been an up and down weekend so far for the men," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Brewer continues to improve as a decathlete, and placed fifth to earn All-East. McMenamin had his third sub-nine minute steeplechase of the season to finish fifth, and Marino bounced back off a tough Patriot League finish to finish eighth in the pole vault. Montero and Kelly threw the javelin well on Friday to go eighth and ninth. We have a large crew of men here, and most are back next year which is exciting for the future." Â
Bucknell is 22nd in the team standings so far (9.333) Navy (113) leads the team standings through 14 events, followed by Army (86), Northeastern (26), Dartmouth (25), and George Mason (23.333).  Â
On Saturday, Bucknell had several more competitors with strong showings. Aiden Brewer earned All-East honors in the decathlon in finishing fifth (5632). Brewer also earned All-East in the heptathlon at last year's IC4A Championships indoors, and scored at the Patriot League Championships two weeks ago in finishing sixth.Â
Connor McMenamin, the Patriot League Champion in the steeplechase, finished fifth in the event (8:57.81) to earn All-East accolades. Noah Martin (18th, 9:35.91) also competed.Â
Evan Minor also had a solid race in the 10k, finishing 13th (30:36.69). Minor, who set a personal best at the Virginia Challenge earlier this year, was competing at his first IC4A Championships.Â
In the 1500, Owen Chase (27th, 3:56.46) and Brendan O'Toole (28th, 3:56.80) both competed for the Bison. The 3x100 unit of Kameron Schreffler, Brian Kennedy, Dylan Pearman, and Rayven Sample (44.82) finished 13th.Â
Bucknell had a strong showing in Friday's events, which included the javelin, the decathlon, the pole vault, and the hammer throw. Â Montero earned All-East recognition for the first time in his career after finishing ninth in 2019. Â Montero was followed by teammate James Kelly (9th, 188-1) who was just shy of his personal best. Â
John Calisi (18th, 153-9) and Robert Feeney both competed for the Bison in the hammer throw. Jaxon White (131-11) was 19th in the discus.Â
