Wrestling's Miller Selected as Bison of Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell wrestler Darren Miller was selected as the Bison Athlete of the Week, which is presented by Mid-Penn Energy and Mid-Penn Engineering.
Miller, a 133 pounder who was ranked as high as 14th nationally last week, was honored on the strength of his commanding victory during the Bison's round-robin tournament at Sacred Heart. At the 6:43 mark of their bout, he dispatched Kyle Randall by a 21-4 technical fall.
On the strength of his Jan. 17 upset of then No. 11 Tony Madrigal of Oklahoma, Miller entered the Intermat and FloWrestling rankings last week. He also jumped eight spots in The Open Mat poll, vaulting to 16th from 24th.
This is Miller's first career Bison Athlete of the Week nod. Miller is the second Bucknell wrestler to be capture this award this season, joining fellow sophomore Vincent Andreano. Andreano, a 174 pounder, was recognized after going 3-0 during the Bison's season-opening tournament against VMI and LIU.
Miller and the Bison next travel to Army West Point for a 2 p.m. dual on Sunday, Jan. 31.
