
Men's Track and Field Set to Compete in Bucknell Tri-Meet on Saturday

Setting the Scene:
What: Bucknell Tri-Meet (vs. UMBC and Lafayette)
When: Saturday, January 6
Where: Gerhard Fieldhouse- Lewisburg, Pa.
About the Bison/ Last Time Out
- The Bison are set to host their second of five indoor home meets.
- Bucknell returns to action after competing in the Bison Opener on Dec. 1-2, winning five events.
- Nicholas Lombardo won the long jump, recording a leap of (23-4 ½). His mark ranks first in the Patriot League.
- Jeffrey Brown won the 60-meter dash in 6.88 seconds, which was the fourth-fastest time in program history and was also good enough to qualify him for IC4A's. He qualified for IC4A's again in the 200-meter dash with a blazing 22.55 time.
- William Melchionni set the school record in the 300-meter dash with a time of 34.40, finishing in first place.
- Freshman Robert Dessoye and sophomore Sean Conway qualified for IC4A's in the 500-meter run. Conway finished with a time of 1:04.85, and Dessoye clocked in with a final time of 1:05.61.
- Matthew Fay rounded out the IC4A qualifiers by finishing tied for first in the pole vault by putting up a (16 ¾) inch pole vault to match his record from last year and currently ranks third on the top-ten all-time list.
- The Bison 4X400 relay also took the top spot with a time of 3:21.14. This relay included Alex Dessoye, Robert Dessoye, Sean Conway, and William Melchionni.
Scouting UMBC
- Saturday will serve as the season-opening meet for the Retrievers.
- UMBC returns Rhys Burgett, who finished second at 2016 America East Championships in the steeplechase with a time of 9:16.66.
- Jamal Cody is the reigning America East Champion in the 60m hurdles after clocking a time of 8.14.
Scouting Lafayette
- The Leopards travel to Lewisburg after competing in a home invite on Dec. 8.
- Justin Johnson was the top overall finisher on the men's team placing fourth in the 200-meter with a time of 23.11
Up Next
- The Bison return to action Jan. 14 to compete in the Nittany Lion Challenge, the first of two trips to Penn State during the indoor season.
