LEWISBURG, Pa. – Emma Levendoski, Diana Hanson and Julianna Foss were double winners and Bucknell claimed first place in 11 of 16 events as the Bison women's swimming and diving team ended its month-long layoff from competition with a 180-120 victory over Army Saturday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. Bucknell (4-4, 3-3 PL) has now won 14 in a row against the Black Knights (3-4, 1-2 PL).
The Bison depth showed throughout the meet as Bucknell had the top two finishers in six events and had two of the top three finishers in 12 events.
Levendoski continued her outstanding junior campaign as she swept both backstroke events for the sixth time in seven meets this season. She won the 100 back by 2.20 seconds over teammate Rachel Perry and followed that with a 4.66-second win over teammate Alanna Nawrocki in the 200 back. The school record-holder in both backstroke events, Levendoski was also part of Bucknell's top two relays, helping the 200 medley relay to a first-place finish and the 400 free relay to a second-place showing.
Hanson swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breast by nearly 1.5 seconds over teammate Ashley Henderson and claiming the 200 breast by 1.81 over the runner-up from Army. It marked Hanson's first sweep of those events this season.
Foss, who owns the school record in both butterfly events, captured first place in both on Saturday. She touched the wall first in both the 100 and 200 fly with teammate Amber McDonnell joining her near the front of the pack by finishing third in both. It was the fourth sweep of the year for Foss, who has 10 first-place showings this season. She was also sixth in the 200 back and joined Levendoski and Hanson on the winning 200 medley relay.
Other swimming winners for Bucknell were Dani Potis in the 1,000 free and Lauren Perry in the 100 free. It was a strong all-around day for both as Potis was the team's top finisher (second overall) in the 500 free and Perry placed second in the 200 free and third in the 50 free. Her win in the 100 free came by just .01 over teammate Rachel McGoff, who had a pair of runner-up showings in the meet.
The Bison dominated the diving competition, claiming the top four spots off the one-meter board and the top five off the three-meter board. Tara Boyle won the one-meter competition, while Katie Hetherington finished first off the higher board.
Saturday's meet was just the beginning of a busy weekend for Bucknell, which will travel to Vestal, New York, Sunday at 1 p.m. to take on non-league foe Binghamton.
