LEWISBURG, Pa. - Following Army's sweep of Holy Cross in the Patriot League Baseball Championship Series Sunday, the league announced the All-Tournament Team and a pair of Bucknell players were honored as Anthony Gingerelli (Worcester, Mass./Burncoat) and Rob Krentzman (Lexington, Mass./Buckingham Browne & Nichols) earned spots on the 11-person team. The two sophomores combined for five of Bucknell's 12 hits in the two-game Semifinal Series at Holy Cross on May 11.
Playing in his hometown, Gingerelli was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in the 9-6 game one loss to the Crusaders. Krentzman was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one runs scored. His three-run double in the sixth inning cut the Bison deficit to just two runs.
Bucknell totaled just three hits in game two, a 3-0 loss.
Gingerelli finished his first season as a Bison second on the team in hitting with a .284 batting average. He drove in 13 runs, had six extra-base hits and scored 13 runs while appearing in 33 games in the outfield and at designated hitter. Gingerelli was tied for fifth on the team with seven multi-hit games and he drove in at least one run in four of his last six games.
Krentzman hit .214 on the year and started 44 games at first base. The second-year starter tied for the team lead with two home runs, while his 22 RBIs were second. Thirteen of his 33 hits went for extra bases.
Gingerelli and Krentzman helped the Bison to their fifth Patriot League Tournament in the last six years this spring. Bucknell finished the regular season fourth in the Patriot League standings with a 10-10 mark, its fourth .500 mark in league play in the last six seasons.
