LEWISBURG, Pa. -The final dual match of the regular season is here for the Bucknell wrestling team. The Bison will host Lehigh Friday at 7 p.m. in Davis Gym to conclude the regular season. Also on Friday, Bucknell will host Penn Tech in a three-bout exhibition match beginning at 5 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live on Bison Vision.
Prior to the Lehigh match Bucknell's six seniors - Zac Hancock, Adam Healey, Jack Ingram, Corey Lear, Joe McMullan and Derrik Russell- will be honored during Senior Day ceremonies.
The Bison (6-13, 2-4 EIWA) will look to end the regular season on a high note as they attempt to snap a four-match losing streak. Lehigh (9-7, 3-4 EIWA) has won three in a row and will be aiming to reach 10 wins in a season for the 14th consecutive year.
Bucknell is 0-8 all-time against Lehigh, including a 25-15 loss last year in Bethlehem. Austin Miller, John Regan, Corey Lear and Stephen McPeek posted victories for the Bison.
Bucknell's No. 17-ranked 165-pounder Lear enters Friday's match with a team-best 22-5 record and is now 84-40 in his career. He ranks 11th in program history in wins, just three behind former teammate Brantley Hooks for 10th place, and he has three career 20-win seasons.
Freshman 133-pounder Paul Petrov has been one of Bucknell's hottest wrestlers of late. The Cedar Lake, Ind., native has won nine of his last 11 bouts and is now a solid 18-10 on the year. He is 4-2 in EIWA dual matches and is 8-2 in bonus-point bouts.
Sophomore heavyweight Joe Stolfi has captured 10 of his last 12 bouts and is 5-1 in EIWA duals. His five pins are tied with Lear for the team lead in that category.
Sophomore 197-pounder Tyler Lyster needs just one more win to reach the 20-victory plateau for the season. His 19-13 record this year is already double the number of wins he had as a freshman in 2011-12.
Lehigh has four nationally ranked wrestlers in its lineup, including two ranked third in their weight classes. The Mountain Hawks also have Lewisburg native Nathaniel Brown, who is listed 15th nationally at 174 pounds, in their lineup.
Following Friday's match Bucknell will take two weeks off in preparation for the EIWA Championships. This year's conference meet is March 8-9 in Piscataway, N.J., with Rutgers as the host school.
