HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. - Wrestling for the second time this weekend, Bucknell lost to Maryland, 23-10, Saturday night at Lower Dauphin High School. Derek Reber (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area), Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon) and Jay Hahn (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) posted victories for the Bison, who lost at No. 13 Rutgers Friday night.
While Bucknell (3-8) claimed just three of the 10 bouts, it lost just once (at heavyweight) by bonus points.
Maryland (9-3), which had three ranked grapplers in its lineup and was considered the home team, extended its winning streak to four with the 13-point victory.
LeValley, who is ranked fourth nationally at 149 pounds, suffered his first loss of the year Friday, but was able to bounce back Saturday with an 8-0 major decision over Ben Dorsay. LeValley's record improved to 19-1 as he posted his fifth win by major decision this season.
Reber won for the third time in his last five bouts as he defeated Brian Marcoux at 125 pounds, 7-2, giving the Bison the early 3-0 lead in the team score.
Hahn closed the Bucknell deficit to 20-10 with one bout remaining with an 11-7 decision at 197. He kept pace with LeValley for the team lead in wins as he improved to 19-6 this season.
