Bucknell Track and Field Wraps Up Day Two at ECAC/IC4A Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Bucknell men's and women's track and field teams completed Day Two of the ECAC and IC4A Championships, hosted by Princeton, on Saturday afternoon. The Bison posted several top finishes on the second day of competition and will look to conclude the meet on Sunday, May 18.
In the prelims for the women's relay events, the Bison 4x800 relay squad notched a fourth-place finish. The team comprised of senior Offeibea Hanson-Hall (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle), senior Andrea Wright (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt), sophomore Allison Janda (Plymouth, Mich./Salem) and junior Jenny Dalzell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) clocked a time of 8:56.96, to qualify for the final on Sunday. The squad's time is the third-fastest in Bucknell history.
Also on the women's side, freshman Rebecca Frey (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) tied her career best and the third-best mark in program history in the pole vault. She posted a height of 11-11 ¾ for an 11th-place finish. Freshman Laura Rycek (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) led the way for the Bison in the javelin throw, picking up a seventh-place finish with a distance of 139-10, while senior Beverly Rogers (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) posted a distance of 137-1, to follow in eighth. Senior Amanda Mockbee (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) was the top finisher for Bucknell in the hammer and discus throws. She finished in 24th in the hammer with a distance of 153-9 and went on to place 12th in the discus, with a distance of 146-5.
Bucknell's women's 4x100 relay squad of sophomore Stephanie Evans (York, Pa,/Central York), sophomore Jennifer Pierce (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands), sophomore Kristin Steele (Shiremanstown, Pa./Trinity) and freshman Kristin Bretscher (Farmingville, N.Y./Cenetreach) finished in 25th with a time of 48.66. Sophomore Lindsay Appel (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), junior Megan Hathaway (North Tonowanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield), freshman Jamie Leacock (Howell, N.J./Howell) and Pierce ran the 4x400 relay, finishing 28th with a time of 3:55.00.
On the men's side, senior Wallace Campbell (Montgomery, Ala./Montgomery Acad.) placed 24th in the 1,500-meter run, clocking in at 3:52.18. In the prelim for the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Andrew Yehl (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) picked up a 23rd-place finish in 14.76, while junior Kerry Boyle (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) finished16th in the trial for the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.87. In the hammer throw, senior James Meyer (Pacific Palisades, CalifPacific Palisades) placed 24th, posting a distance of 168-1.
Sophomore Ryan White (Elkins Park, Pa./Father Judge) finished the decathlon in seventh place, compiling a point total of 5,328. On Day Two, White went 15.94 (740) in the decathlon 110-meter hurdles, 13-3 ½ (631) in the pole vault and 104-0 (498) in the discus throw.
The ECAC and IC4A Championships will conclude on Sunday, May 18. On the women's side, Bucknell's 4x800 relay squad will compete in the final and sophomore Amy Mantush (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) will compete in the triple jump. For the men, Bucknell will have sophomore Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Central) in the triple jump, sophomore Timothy Medlock (Evan Mills, N.Y./Indian River) in the shot put, and freshman Nicholas Hruch (Sykesville, Md./Liberty) and freshman Drew Fitzgerald (Ballston Spa, Pa./Ballston Spa) in the high jump.
