LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell wrestling sophomore co-captain David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Central) was selected as the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday for the second time of his career after posting two dual-meet wins over the weekend, including an upset victory over ninth-ranked Tyler McCormick of Missouri.
Marble, who is currently ranked No. 20 in the latest InterMat/NWCA/NWMA Division I Individual Rankings at 133 pounds, posted a convincing 16-9 victory in the Bison's dual-meet at No. 8 Missouri last Friday. McCormick opened the first period with a takedown, but Marble battled back with six straight points, including a near fall, to lead 6-2 heading into the second. McCormick pulled to within two at 7-5 when Marble responded with an escape and a takedown and remained comfortably in front for the rest of the way.
Then on Sunday in a 47-0 shutout of Wagner, Marble recorded the first of five pins by members of the Orange and Blue against the Seahawks that evening, downing Tyler Harmer in the first period.
Heading into this weekend's action, Marble is 14-3 overall on the year with a duals mark of 7-2 and has three dual-meet wins for bonus points.
Bucknell will next travel to Hampton, Va., for the Virginia Duals on Jan. 11-12. The parings for the event are expected to be announced on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
