Bucknell Wrestling Adds 13 Newcomers to the Roster for 2007-08

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell wrestling program will add 13 newcomers to its roster for 2007-08, head coach Dan Wirnsberger announced on Friday. Wirnsberger's second recruiting class in his tenure with the Orange and Blue consists of student-athletes from seven different states who will join a Bison team that enjoyed a highly-successful 2006-07 campaign as an all-freshmen squad.
"I am very anxious and excited to begin working with our incoming recruits," said Wirnsberger. "There is a ton of talent and potential throughout the 13 incoming student-athletes. Most are multiple-time state champions and state placewinners. These are not only exceptional athletes but also are amazing young men that are just as dedicated in the classroom. The Bison wrestling program has a lot to be proud of with the addition of these student-athletes."

Chris Bailes (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) - 157/165 ... Christopher Aaron Bailes ... born Dec. 19, 1988 in Camp Hill, Pa. ... son of Edward and Colette Bailes ... has four siblings, Jonathan, Nichilas, Jeremy and Lauren ... earned four varsity letters in wrestling and one in football at Middletown Area High School ... earned Mid-Penn All Star and All-Pennsylvania team selections under head coach Mike Nauman ... qualified for state tournament ... won sectional title in 2007 and was third in District III ...was a Junior Olympic gold medalist and a Keystone State gold medalist ... served as team co-captain ... finished with a career mark of 98-48.
Kevin Carrillo (Belen, N.M./Belen) - 125 ...Kevin L. Carrillo ... born Nov. 8, 1988 in Albuquerque, N.M. ... son of Lorenzo and Barbara Carrillo ... has two sisters, Lori Anne and Jenessa ... father wrestled at New Mexico Highlands University ... lettered in wrestling, soccer, cross country and golf at Belen High School ... wrestled under head coach Lee Chaves ... won state championship at 125 lbs. as a junior and at 119 lbs. as a sophomore ... took third in the state at 125 lbs. as a senior and was sixth at 103 lbs. as a freshman ... served as two-year captain, helping Belen to its fifth straight 4A New Mexico state championship in 2007 ... named team's Most Outstanding Wrestler ... won four district individual titles ... finished third in both folk style and freestyle at the 2005 AAU Grand Nationals ... was the runner-up in folk style and third in freestyle in 2006 ... totaled 103 wins by fall ... posted a career record of 158-25.

Eric Harris (Green River, Wyo./Green River) - 133 ... Rob Waltko (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Alleghany) - 174 ... lettered in wrestling at North Alleghany High School ... set school record for wins with a career mark of 150-19 ... won four sectional championships and was a four-time regional placewinner, winning the title once ... qualified for the PIAA AAA state tournament twice where he was the runner-up in 2005 and the champion in 2007 ... won a Cadet USA national freestyle title in 2004 and took third in Greco in 2004 and seventh in 2003 ... took third at the Iron Man tournament in 2006 and second in 2007 ... won two junior freestyle state titles.
Charlie Wonstettler - (Scenery Hill, Pa./Bentworth) - 174/184 ... Charles Marion Wonsettler ... son of Charles Wonsettler ... has two brothers, Clifton and Christopher, who wrestled at Penn State ... father played football at Indiana University of Pennsylvania ... cousin, George Parros, lettered in ice hockey at Princeton and is currently playing in the NHL for the Anaheim Ducks ... earned four letters in wrestling, three in football and one in each golf, track & field and baseball at Bentworth High School ...father coached him in wrestling ... was a two-time PIAA placewinner, taking eighth in 2005 and fifth in 2007 ... qualified for the PIAA Southwest Regional four times with a runner-up showing in 2007 ... was a four-time WPIAL placewinner, taking second in 2007 ... won four WPIAL sectional titles ... earned PWCA All-State Academic Team honors in 2006-07 ... named to the Observer Reporter All-District Team in 2006-07 ... holds school records for wins in a season ... finished with a career mark of 104-41 ... was named all-conference in football twice.
