Senior Matthew Forys Tabbed Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa - Senior Matthew Forys (Howell, N.J./Howell) of the Bucknell men's indoor track and field program was selected as the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday after a strong performance at the 2007 Patriot League Indoor Championships at West Point, N.Y. It is the senior's second time winning the award.
Forys was named the Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet this past weekend at the championships. He won two gold medals in the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs. His time of 8 minutes, 13.13 seconds in the 3,000 was a new meet record and moved him into fourth place in school history.
This season, the Howell, N.J., native has qualified for the IC4A Championships in the one-mile, the 3,000, and the 5,000. He holds the Patriot League's fastest time in the 5,000 with a mark of 14:16.28, which also ranks him fourth in school history.
Forys along with several other Bison, will compete in the IC4A Championships in Boston, Mass., on Saturday, March 3, on the campus of Northeastern University.
