
Senior Marjorie Grap Breaks Meet Record at Day Two of Patriot League Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Bucknell women's track and field team posted 61 points to lead the Patriot League Championships after day two at West Point, N.Y. Lafayette (40.75) and Navy (28.75) trail the Bison going into the final day of competition. Senior Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) won her third straight title and broke her own meet record in the 20-lb weight throw with a distance of 63 feet, 8 ¼ inches (19.41m)
Freshman Amy Mantush (Drums, Pa./Hazleton) notched a first-place showing in the high jump with a distance of 5-8 (1.73m), which was a new school record and qualified her for the ECAC Championships. She also scored in the long jump with a distance of 17-11 ¾ (5.48m), which was good for sixth. The team of seniors Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) and Mariel Fink (Pennington, N.J./Hun School of Princeton) and juniors Victoria Gilbert (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) and Offeibia Hanson-Hall (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) took first place in the 4x800 relay with a time of 9 minutes, 09.03 seconds, which is an ECAC qualifying time. Senior Leanna Nastase (Beaverdale, Pa./Forest Hills) finished first in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:49.71.
Sophomore Nicole Falcaro (Dingmans Ferry, Pa./Delaware Valley) and junior Christine Totten (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) scored for the Bison in the 5,000 finishing fourth and fifth. Falcaro crossed the line with a time of 18:13.93, while Totten broke the plane at 18:16.00.
Senior Sarah VandenBroek (Hyde Park, N.Y./Roosevelt) qualified for the finals in the 200 with a time of 26.38. Seniors Catherin Trentacoste (Garden City, N.J./Garden City) and Melanie Buczko (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) will compete in the finals of the 60 hurdles after posting times of 8.84 and 8.89, respectively.
The Bucknell women's indoor track and field team will look to win its sixth straight in the final day of the Patriot League Championship on Sunday, Feb. 18. The meet will begin with the women's pole vault, triple jump and shot put.
