LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Central) was tabbed as Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, after winning triple jump and the long jump, posting IC4A-qualifying marks in both events, at the Bison Opener this past Saturday.
In Bucknell's first meet of the 2007-08 indoor season, Anthony took first in the long jump with an IC4A-qualifying mark of 23 feet, 2 ¾ inches and went on to win the triple jump, recording an IC4A-qualifying distance of 21-6 ¼. This is the second consecutive season that Anthony has won both events at the Bison Opener.
Currently, Anthony sits second on Bucknell's all-time top-10 list for the triple jump (49-7 ¾) and fourth for the long jump (23-11 ¼). Anthony is the defending Patriot League indoor champion in the triple jump (49-7 ¾), earning first-team all-league honors last season. He also finished third in the long jump at the 2007 indoor league championship. Additionally, Anthony competed in the long jump (23-4 ¾) and the triple jump (47-10 ½) at the IC4A Championships to place third and seventh respectively and earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors twice for his performance at the Bison Opener and Gulden Relays in 2006-07.
The Bucknell men's and women's track and field teams are now set to prepare for the Gulden Relays in Lewisburg on Jan. 12.
