LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Kerry Boyle (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) of Bucknell's men's track and field team was named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday, Jan. 30, for his performance at the Penn State National Invite on Saturday, Jan. 28, in University Park, Pa. So far this season, the Bison have been decorated with four Patriot League Athlete of the Week honors and, including this week's recognition, two Lewisburg Hotel awards.
Boyle won the 500-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 4.26 seconds at the Invite. The finish earned him a spot at the IC4A Championship meet, scheduled for March 4-5, 2006, in Boston, Mass., and a place in the Bucknell record books as the fourth-best finisher in the history of the event.
Currently, the Orange and Blue have five individual IC4A qualifiers, along with the men's distance medley relay team.
The Bison will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Akron Open, in Akron, Ohio, before returning home to host the final indoor meet of the season on Saturday, Feb. 11.
