Bucknell Wrestling Opens Season at Fall Brawl

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Bucknell wrestling squad opened the 2005-06 season on Saturday at the Fall Brawl tournament, hosted by Ursinus College.
Freshman Adam Starr (North Belmore, N.Y.) picked up the lone victory on the day for the Bison wrestling at 141 pounds as he won by a 1:52 fall over Jon Cherry of Ursinus, but was defeated in his next match, by Scott George of Williamson in the second round and by Patrick Conrad of Stevens Institute of Technology in the consolation bracket in a 6-3 decision.
Also competing for Bucknell were sophomore Tim Mauritz (Hampton Falls, N.H.) at 184 pounds and senior Brian Lauffer (Shikallemy, Pa.) at 197 pounds. Mauritz was defeated by fall in 1:03 in his match against Washington and Lee's Max Courtney. Lauffer was defeated by fall, as well, by Mike Wagner of Williamson in 3:32.
The Bison will next travel to Edison, N.J., on Sunday, Dec. 4, when the team will compete in the Middlesex College Open.
