Bucknell Indoor Track and Field Competes At ECAC & IC4A Championships

BOSTON, MA. - A number of the Bucknell men's and women's indoor track and field team competed at the annual ECAC & IC4A Championships on March 8 & 9. Theresa Dennis and Eric Furst each earned fourth place honors during the weekend.
At the ECAC Championship, Dennis received a fourth place mark after crossing the line at 17:12.57 in the 5,000-meter run. Dennis accomplished a season best and moved to second on Bucknell's all-time standings.
In the 1,000-meter run, Jennifer Marsh (2:56.24) and Nicki Piper (2:58.41) finished 13th and 16th, respectively. Amy Calvo placed 14th in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:15.92. Charity Brady ran 57.86 in the preliminary run of the 400-meter dash.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Brady, Piper, Monique Boley and Calvo placed 19th with a time of 3:54.24, which placed them ninth on the all-time charts. Dionne Bonds jumped 36'7" in the triple jump.
At the IC4A Championship, Ryan Newberger accomplished a season best in the 200-meter preliminary with a time of 21.93. He now stands second all-time in this category on Bucknell's list. Newberger placed 10th in the finals with a time of 21.99. Eric Furst earned a fourth place finish in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:27.54.
Lou Palma received a season best in the mile run preliminary with a time of 4:10.89. He accomplished a 10th place finish in the finals, crossing the line at 4:12.97. Noel Powell leaped 21'11.5" in the long jump. Bucknell's distance medley relay team finished in 16th place with a time of 10:11.24. Matias Palavecino, Brian Klotz, John Trotta Jr. and Wesley Reinhardt competed in the DMR.
The Bison will begin the outdoor season in Baltimore, Md. on Saturday, Mar. 22 at the Retriever Invitational, which will be held at University of Maryland-Baltimore County.
